Kizobazoba stands for a specific Congolese delight in improvising, it describes survival strategies and is philosophy at the same time. The project Kizobazoba programmatically takes up this word, which is in wide use in Kinshasa, combining fashion design, film, and music into a trans medial fashion performance.

For Kizobazoba fashion students at the Akademie Mode & Design (AMD) in Berlin and the Institut supérieur des arts et métiers (ISAM) in Kinshasa have designed their own collections, which will be presented by Congolese and German performers, models, and musicians at various places at studiobühne köln. Dress codes as a protest against post-colonial stereotypes. Outfits that spur on gender bending. Glamour flirts with streetwear, upcycling conquers the luxury sector. the exoticism of the west is reflected back from the south. The web documentary Kinshasa Collection by DOROTHEE WENNER was the starting point for Kizobazoba. Contributors to both projects pursued further transnational traces in the globalized fashion world. Kizobazoba shows fashion that dares to use borders as a springboard into the next chapter. Inspired and accompanied by live music from ANGE DA COSTA and LOVA LOVA.

Kizobazoba kicks off the program axis Festival of Original Fakes, which deals with artistic creativity beyond the parameters of trademark protection and copyright and examines aesthetic strategies that expressly undercut these concepts.
