Sophia Süssmilch’s works deal with constructs and politics of identity and reality. Examining her role as a woman and artist, Sophia Süßmilch questions the boundaries between people, between the private and the political, between comedy and tragedy. In her performance Emanzen (Libbers) – 15 minutes of shame, developed for the Feminist Summer Academy, she explores the possibility of exposing oneself to shame and (derogatory) attributions so as to appropriate them and thus gain autonomy.
