Exophony: zwischensprachensprechen

Due to the situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), Exophony: zwischensprachensprechen had to be postponed.

with participants from SILENT UNIVERSITY RUHR, IMPORT EXPORT KOLLEKTIV and OLDSCHOOL at SCHAUSPIEL KÖLN
facilitators: BRIDGET FONKEU, BASSAM GHAZI, DAVID VOGEL

The work in progress Exophony: zwischensprachensprechen can be seen as a place of encounter for lived multilingualism. It is the result of a three-day workshop of the same name at Schauspiel Köln, in which participants explore on a practical level how communication can succeed in a real, diverse community and actually strengthen it. Workshop participants, who come from different generations and have various mono- or multilingual backgrounds, will develop a performative work in progress that addresses questions of communication within linguistically diverse groups and seeks to actively include the audience. Everyday communication, here the object of this collective artistic exploration, becomes in this way a lived ‘cooperative sphere’ and a driver of coexistence in a diverse society.

Exophony: zwischensprachensprechen is a part of the Exophony: program, which explores the processes of writing, reading and listening, manipulations of and through language as well as interaction and communication. There is a particular focus on experiences of and with multilingualism, translation and translatability. Exophony: offers the opportunity to collectively rethink communication structures and language practices and to explore the diversity and simultaneity of a shared language landscape.

The event Exophony: zwischensprachensprechen is organized in cooperation with Schauspiel Köln and Silent University Ruhr.
The program series Exophony: is funded by Kunststiftung NRW.
