Open Call: Participatory Residency Program 2024
In 2023, the ADKDW Residency will once again bring international art and culture practitioners to Cologne to network with the local art and creative scene and give them the opportunity to conduct research and find new impulses for their own work.
This year, the ADKDW welcomes artist and curator, as well as ADKDW member MERV ESPINA from Manila, Philippines. In addition, the Haitian curator GISCARD BOUCHOTTE, who in 2011 curated the first pavilion of the Republic of Haiti at the Biennale di Venezia, will be guest artist-in-residence. The filmmaker SANAZ SOHRABI will continue her research on British-controlled oil operations in Iran as artist-in-residence in fall 2023, accompanied by a screening at the film and media school KHM.
Thanks to the support of the Kunststiftung NRW, once again AIMAR ARRIOLA, NANCY GARÍN, ANTOINE SILVESTRE, and, for the first time, LINDA VALDÉS can be invited to Cologne. Their collective Anarchivo SIDA can thus continue its collaboration with the ADKDW and its research work on living with HIV/AIDS in Cologne in the years 1989-1996 on site.
Musician, producer, and designer SHELLY QUEST was the artist-in-residence in the Participatory Residency Program in the first half of 2023. Since summer 2023, YVAN HERVÉ BUTERA (he/they) is the second artist-in-residence. Yvan Hervé Butera is a native Rwandan and founded the Kaze Film Festival, the first queer film festival in his home country.
The Participatory Residency Program is realized with the kind support of the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) and the RheinEnergieStiftung Kultur.
