Performing Marxist Heritage TkH - Walking Theory / Teorija koja Hoda, Part 2

with BOJAN DJORDJEV, SINIŠA ILIĆ, KATARINA POPOVIĆ

TkH – Walking Theory is a collective from Belgrade whose members are theorists and artists coming from the fields of performance theory and practice, theater, cinema, and visual arts. A second group of the collective, Siniša Ilić, Katarina Popović, and Bojan Djordjev will present the ongoing research project Marxist Heritage which is departing from a “phantom memory of Marxism” as experienced after the collapse of socialist Yugoslavia, actualized in a critique of contemporary capitalism and concretized in lecture-performances, reading groups, discussions, collective working sessions, and contextually specific labour actions. The Salon Performing Marxist Heritage proposes as topics for discussion several quotes by V.I. Lenin on “withering away of the state" as a last stage of transformation from capitalism to communism; and the role of artists in “imagining” revolution and new societies exemplified by modernist Yugoslav monuments to WWII.
