Sister-Sister Rachel Zadok

In childhood Thuli and Sindi are inseparable, pinkie-linked by a magic no one else can understand. Then a strange man comes knocking, bringing news from a hometown they didn’t know existed. His arrival sets into motion events that will lead them into the darkest places, on a search for salvation. In Rachel Zadok’s highly acclaimed novel Sister-Sister, the all-too familiär and the extraordinary merge, blurring the boundaries between dream and reality. South Africa appears transfigured ever so slightly, a panopticon of lost souls and broken dreams. In the context of a future cooperation with the Rhine-South-Africa-Fellows Program, Academyspace is glad to welcome Rachel Zadok to Cologne. She joins GUY HELMINGER for a bilingual reading of passages from her novel and a subsequent discussion of her work.
