One could say that the reaction of the Left to the events in Ukraine has been nothing short of a fiasco. Why are postmodern anti-capitalists so easily lured by neoliberalism with a human face? Why do old school anti-imperialists place their trust in anti-American dictators like Putin? Sociologist Volodymyr Ishchenko (Kyiv) traces the roots and implications of such positioning. He joins in a discussion with critic and radio journalist Uli Hufen (Cologne) to examine the present polarization of the Left in Russia, Ukraine, and Western Europe.
