We are delighted to welcome to Cologne our new fellow Max Jorge Hinderer Cruz from São Paulo. In addition to being a cultural critic, he works in Brazil as an independent author, translator, curator, and editor. He is the author of the book Hélio Oiticica and Neville D’Almeida: Block-Experiments in Cosmococa Program in Progress (2013, Afterall Books/MIT Press – in collaboration with Sabeth Buchmann). During his two-month stay in Cologne he will deepen his research on the themes of “Integrated World Capitalism and the Micropolitics of Aesthetics”. His lecture on November 2 at 19:00 at ACADEMYSPACE is entitled: Brazilian culture? For whom, and what for?. It will address Brazil between neoliberal cultural politics and new social movements 2013–2016.
