with BRAZZAVILLE ARAGÃO, WANDA ARAUJO, JOÃO CARLOS ARTIGOS, FLAVIA BERTON, LENA MARTINS, LUNA PESCE, HELENA STEWART and STUDENTS OF THE NÚCLEO EXPERIMENTAL DE PERFORMANCE (NEP - ECO / UFRJ)

Based on the device of ‘partilha’, a culture and economy of giving and sharing, the symposium places the focus on hands and their relationship to materials and objects. Various aspects of work, healing, aesthetics, medicine, movement, time, gesture, rhythm and utility will be explored in greater detail. The aim is to think about manual work, taking into account various methods of production and creation, with a particular emphasis on traditional knowledge. The symposium is preceded by a two-month-long workshop (Times of Hands – and paws and leaves and wings and fins and) with the students of the NEP as well as a seminar (Urban Quilombo, Enchantment, Traditional Knowledge, Manual Labor and Other Economies) in which all contributors take part. The archives and collections that result will be presented in various formats: scenes, objects, academic texts, fictional texts, performances, etc.
