Jörg Streichert is the new managing director of the Akademie der Künste der Welt (Academy of the Arts of the World, ADKDW). He joined the team on 1 August 2021 as successor to Imke Itzen, who after managing the ADKDW for two years is taking up a position as managing director at the Weserburg Museum für moderne Kunst in Bremen. The supervisory board of the ADKDW recommended Jörg Streichert unanimously to the finance committee of the City of Cologne and the shareholders’ meeting of the ADKDW.

With Jörg Streichert the ADKDW gains an experienced cultural manager who is very well connected in Cologne. As former managing director of the Friends of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and the Museum Ludwig e.V., he brings valuable leadership experience and strong links to the local cultural scene. Collaborative partners and his wider network include renowned local, national as well as international artists in art, music, design and culture. He brings art and culture into politics and the public sphere with a high level of curiosity, openness and a wealth of ideas, as shown in the numerous cultural projects he has created and realized in Cologne. With his managerial track record in the field of culture and his exceptional commitment, he is predestined to lead a cultural institution like the Akademie with competence and dedication.

We look forward to the new energy that Jörg Streichert – with his experience guiding diverse cultural projects – will bring to his work at the ADKDW.
